Photo Friday

This is going to be a series of weekly post about photo’s. I am going to cover all sorts of topic on photo’s from how to evaluate your photos, to backing up, printing, editing, the the dreaded deleting. Hoping to help manage the oodles of photo’s you have.

This week I am going to start with the photo’s on your phone. This can be done while you are sitting in front of the tv or any other time that you and in your phone not doing anything productive. The key is to start small and tackle a little bit each time. So pick a night each week to do this review of the photos on your phone.

  1. Just look at this last week of photo’s- I use the Days function on my iPhone
  • 2. Review each photo and see if it is a good photo to keep- there is no right or wrong
    • Is it blurry?
    • How many pictures do you need of the same thing?
    • Is a picture you like?
    • Does it tell a story that means something to you?
    • Would you print it?
    • Does it capture your daily life in some way?
I have 5 pictures of my anniversary flowers. I really only need 1 or 2 of these
  • If there is a picture you really like tag it with a heart or how ever your phone handles the marking of photos
I like the way this photo looks and the colors of our concert dinner
  • You can delete right from you camera roll when you find ones you don’t need/want/like
Took this to list for sale. Don’t need to keep it now that it has sold.
  • Lastly you can do some quick edits
    • Cropping
    • Lighting adjustments
    • Straightening
    • Rotate
  • More on this in another week
I took this as a selfie and hated how I looked but I still wanted to keep the dinosaur so I just cropped myself out of the picture
  • 3. Last step back up you weeks photos to the cloud and/or your hard drive. I will talk more about pros and cons of each but be diligent about this step. My husband lots 6 months of photos because he did not realize he was out of storage.
  • Put a calendar invite for one night a week and keep that appointment and spend 10 mins reviewing each week. Each week go back a little further in your camera roll until you have everything reviewed. It will get quicker each time you do this exercise.
