🎨 Let’s Celebrate the Heart of the Story: Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Happy May Day Everyone! Tomorrow, May 2nd, is National Scrapbooking Day (NSD). For me, this day is all about pausing, reflecting, and preserving those little moments that make life so beautiful.

I think sometimes we all get a little caught up in the “art” of it all. We scroll through social media, see those intricate masterpieces, and think, “I just don’t have the time (or the talent!) for that”. But here’s a little secret from my studio to yours: The story is what matters, not the composition.

📸 Keep It Simple, Keep It Real

Scrapbooking doesn’t need to be a marathon session with a hundred different tools. Honestly, some of my absolute favorite pages started with just:

  • A few meaningful pictures
  • A simple story written in your own handwriting (I love the personal touch!)
  • Coordinating paper or a quick kit that matches your photo colors

When you look back at an album ten years from now, you aren’t going to be checking if your embellishments followed the “rule of thirds”. You’re going to be looking at the smile on a loved one’s face and reading the words that describe exactly how you felt in that moment. That’s where the real joy lives—for you while you’re making it, and for everyone who flips through your pages later.

📸 Inspiration: Simple Layouts

To help get your creative juices flowing, I’ve shared a few of my recent layouts below. You’ll see everything from quick kit-based designs to super simple paper-and-photo arrangements. These look complex but all 4 of these layouts are simple with either strips of patterned paper with a few simple embellishments. One is pre-printed design with just a few 4×6 pieces behind the pictures. The White one look complicated by it is just die cut flowers and leaves with white titles.

🌈 See the New In Colors in Action!

If you’re looking for a little extra inspiration, I’m so excited to share that I just posted a brand-new Membership Video! I’m playing with the stunning 2026-2027 Stampin’ Up! In Colors—they are absolutely gorgeous and so easy to work with.

I’ll show you how to take these five new shades—Barely Blush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Golden Glow, Peaceful Pine, and Hydrangea Hue—and use them to create both a coordinated card and a clean scrapbook layout.

I have uploaded the new Hex Code sheet and Color Coach that has the 2026-2028 In Colors your reference as well to help with color combinations or print and cut colors.

Tip: Using a specific color palette (like the new In Colors) is the easiest way to make a page look polished without overthinking the design!

With the new catalog comes our May Product of the Month: Berry Botanical Vellum (12″ x 12″). This specialty vellum is absolutely dreamy! ✨ A Final Thought

At the end of the day, National Scrapbooking Day isn’t about having the perfect craft room or the most expensive supplies. It’s about honoring your memories and the people who fill them. Whether you finish ten pages tomorrow or just get one story down on paper, you’ve done something wonderful. You’re making sure those moments aren’t forgotten.

So, grab a few photos, find a couple of coordinating papers and tell a story today. What story are you planning to tell this weekend? I’d love to hear about your NSD projects in the comments below!

Happy Scrapping, friends!
